In it, writer Rachel Macy Stafford quotes a study saying this:

“… college athletes were asked what their parents said that made them feel great, that amplified their joy during and after a ballgame. Their overwhelming response: ‘I love to watch you play.'”

Great advice for what parents of any age child should say to them and, with modifications (I’d replace “love” with “really like”) a great thing for teachers to say when they watch their students at a game.
