Now This Is Interesting: Parents Helping Other Parents Their Languages

I certainly haven’t heard of this kind of parent engagement before today — parents helping each other to learn their languages.

It’s a little unclear to me exactly how this works beyond sitting next to each other using a computer language-learning program, but I’m assuming their is more to it than that:

But little Navajo Elementary School has launched a modest program that may be tackling this communication problem. For a few hours once a week, parents come together — English speakers to learn Spanish and Spanish speakers to learn English. The hope is that parents will be better able to support their children in the school and work together to increase participation.
